Below is a list of attractions in the Acadiana area: Just 15 minutes away is Lafayete, LA, home to its Acadian culture filled with history, folklore and good food!  Visitors to this area are drawn to Vermilionville and Acadian Village, parks which beautifully depict the Cajun-Creole way of life from a by-gone era.  Festivals Acadien and Festivals International draw people from all over the world and of course Mardi Gras in Lafayette is a wonderful family oriented draw yearly.

Baton Rouge, our state capitol, is 45 minutes away, and New Orleans, is only 2 hrs.

River Road Plantations are only about an hour's drive with such breathtaking views of the Mississippi River.

1. Just a 10 minute drive from our cottages is Breaux Bridge where the world famous Crawfish Festival is held the first weekend in May.  www.bbcrawfish.com  Also, in the downtown area, within walking distance of each other, are many antique shops as well as wonderful restaurants. www.tourism.breauxbridgelive.com

2. Just 15 minutes north of our cottages on I-49 is Evangeline Downs racetrack and Racino. www.evagelinedowns.com

3. In Henderson, off of I-10, is the basin.  There are many things to do there.  There are swamp tours at McGees Landing, airboat tours at the Basin Landing.  www.mcgeeslanding.com   Also at the Basin landing there is the Turtles Bar where all the locals go.  Be sure to tell them that Adrienne and Billy sent you there. www.basinlanding.com  There are also Eco-Tours with Nature at its best by Cajun Country Swamp Tours. www.cajuncountryswamptours.com

4. In New Iberia, located south on I-49, there is Rip Van Winkle Gardens.  It is located on Historic Jefferson Island on beautiful lake Peigneur.  You can tour the gardens, eat in their cafe, then take a tour of Joseph Jefferson Home, a Southern mansion - 1870. www.ripvanwinklegardens.com

5.In downtown Lafayette, on Jefferson street, there is an Art Walk every 2nd Saturday of the month.  Here you will see art displayed by local artist.  There are also many restaurants and bars to visit during your walk. www.lafayettedowntown.com

6. On your way to New Iberia, stop by to tour the famous Tabasco Pepper Sauce Factory.  There are also beautiful gardens to tour while you are there.  Be sure to visit the country store. www.tabasco.com

6.For the kids, the Kart Ranch is located in Lafayette.  There is miniature golf, go-karts, batting cages, water bumper bats and an indoor fun center. www.kartranch.com

7.  The month of May brings the world famous Festival International.  This is a festival you don't want to miss. www.festivalinternational.com

8.  In the month of September is the annual Festival Acadiens which celebrates the Cajun Culture with music, dancing and lots of food.

9. At Acadian Village they offer an authentic version of Acadian society in South Louisiana during the 19th century with period homes, various demonstrations and a store.

10. Hands on fun for kids of all ages at the Children's Museum in downtown Lafayette.  www.childrensmuseum.com
